Why is norton updating constantly
Symantec Live Update can be run in Interactive Mode or in Express Mode.
In Interactive mode, users decide which updates to download and apply.
Live Update can only apply updates for a particular version of Norton; it cannot however upgrade a version of Norton to a later version (for example Norton Internet Security 2006 to 2009).
To upgrade the product to the latest version, one would have to go to a separate website.
As I said I have dealt with 2 support engineers and 1 supervisor and all they have done after hours of trying to "fix" the problem is get the failed definition to install insisting that the problem is now fixed- they turn Norton off or uninstall it, turn Defender on, install the definitions then turn Defender back off and Norton back on or make me reinstall it.
One engineer went so far as to say the problem is because Norton Security is *NOT* compatible with Windows 10 and went even further to say that because I am using it I now have viruses and corrupt files.
It's fairly easy to use, and I felt like I understood how to use it immediately. However, I would like there to be more features provided and for it to be easier to buy once and not have to keep purchasing when the trial or the contract was over.
"Restart required, setup has detected that a previous patch has been completed but requires a restart.
I pushed back and he started backing down by suggesting it was his opinion that Norton doesn't work.
I continued to press and ask whether this was officially Microsoft's position or not and he would not answer.
Installing the software did not take much time and I just had to let it do its thing and restart my computer.
I don't really have to think about it that much and it gives me reminders when I need them.
